Understanding Information Systems Continuance: An Expectation-Confirmation Model
نویسنده
چکیده
This paper examines cognitive beliefs and affect influencing one's intention to continue using (continuance) information systems (IS). Expectationconfirmation theory is adapted from the consumer behavior literature and integrated with theoretical and empirical findings from prior IS usage research to theorize a model of IS continuance. Five research hypotheses derived from this model are empirically validated using a field survey of online banking users. The results suggest that users'continuance intention is determined by their satisfaction with IS use and perceived usefulness of continued IS use. User satisfaction, in turn, is influenced by their confirmation of expectation from prior IS use and perceived usefulness. Postacceptance perceived usefulness is influenced by 'Ron Weber was the accepting senior editor for this paper. users'confirmation level. This study draws attention to the substantive differences between acceptance and continuance behaviors, theorizes and validates one of the earliest theoretical models of IS continuance, integrates confirmation and user satisfaction constructs within our current understanding of IS use, conceptualizes and creates an initial scale for measuring IS continuance, and offers an initial explanation for the acceptancediscontinuance anomaly.

Explaining and Predicting Older Adult’ Continuance Intention toward SNSs: An Extension of the Expectation–Confirmation Model
Due to the rapid growth of social net services (SNSs), research into SNSs continuance has recently emerged as an important issue in information systems. This study develops an integrated model designed to predict older adults’ continuance behavior toward SNSs based on the expectation-confirmation model (ECM), the task technology fit (TTF) and the theory of planned behavior (TPB). The hypothesiz...

Although Chinese government has got remarkable achievement in e-Government development, the difficult issue that citizen use behaviour cannot last toward many e-Government services has long been troubling to government in different levels. Based on expectation-confirmation theory (ECT), this paper proposed an extended model by divide the expectation and perceived performance into two categories...
متن کاملInformation Technology Continuance Research: Current State and Future Directions*
Contemporary research on information technology (IT) continuance is plagued by inadequate understanding of the continuance concept and inappropriate use of theories for studying this phenomenon. Following a review of the IT continuance literature, this paper identifies some of the extant misconceptions about continuance research and suggests theoretical avenues for advancing this research in a ...

Due to the rapid growth of mobile data service (MDS), research into MDS continuance has recently emerged as an important issue in information systems (IS) and marketing literature. This study develops an integrated model designed to predict a user’s continuance behavior toward MDS based on the expectation–confirmation model (ECM) and the theory of planned behavior (TPB). Empirical data collecte...
متن کاملThe Effect of Switching Costs on the Satisfaction-Continuance Relationship: An Extension of Expectation-Confirmation Model
The expectation-confirmation model (ECM) has been applied to investigate the satisfaction with and continuance of information technology (IT) after its adoption. However, the ECM assumes that the satisfaction-continuance relationship is linear. In the electronics market, however, such a linear relationship may be susceptible to the influence of new variants unique to the Internet. In addition, ...
